Becky Cortino's FREE Michael Stelzner's New Book "Launch" Promo

Becky Cortino's FREE Michael Stelzner's New Book "Launch" Promo

In June, I had the pleasure of being one of 50 bloggers selected to participate in a unique book promotion for Social Media Examiner founder Michael Stelzner’s new book “Launch: How to Quickly Propel Your Business Beyond the Competition.”In addition to writing a review of the book, a prerequisite to our involvement was to submit a descriptive plan of how we would creatively give away the extra free copy of the book sent to us by Michael for the promotion. I was thrilled to be selected!

On June 21st, I received my copies of “Launch.” As promised, I offered my extra copy to a small business owner or nonprofit organization representative who visited my blog, leaving a comment describing their greatest marketing challenge, and how they believed this book will help them solve that challenge.

In addition to receiving the book, I included a BONUS of additional promotional coverage for the winning the recipient, valued at $1,500. At the time of devising my promotion for “Launch,” I had not yet read the book, but was surprised and pleased when I saw “The Importance of Giving Genuine Gifts” in Chapter 5, on “Actively Engaging Other People.” My BONUS offer freely made, seemed to dovetail nicely with the book.

Entrants were received, verified and finalists were determined. Voting opened June 27, running through June 29. Votes were cast by folks leaving comments indicating their selection, on my blog. The entries, voting and promotion were all fueled through our collaborative associations, and communicated via social media — appropriately, and in keeping with many of the ideas presented in “Launch.”

Of course my BONUS was subject to the acceptance of the winning recipient. I was delighted when the winner, Justin “Jusby” Wright agreed, and in fact stated he was looking forward to receiving my promotional package BONUS as well as Michael’s “Launch.” Truly humbling, for me… thank you, Jusby.

Later this week, I’ll be presenting part one of the two parts of my BONUS promotional package, with a special spotlight feature for Justin aka “Jusby,” an entrepreneur, family entertainer and so much more… I don’t want to totally spoil the surprise, to be presented in his feature — please stay tuned, and get ready to be inspired by Jusby!

BizBuzz: 12 Minute Social Media Playbook with Phil Gerbyshak

BizBuzz: 12 Minute Social Media Playbook with Phil Gerbyshak

I’ve been hearing the carping, have you? You know, about “how much time” this Social Media stuff takes up, or makes time disappear, or not getting much return from all the time spent.

Have you noticed it sometimes seems like you could shoot a proverbial cannon down some of the Social Media hallways, and no one would get hit? (Thankfully!)

Water cooler conversation has it that:

  1. “it’s the summer heat” (forgetting it isn’t really ‘summer’ everywhere, at the moment, I might interject)
  2. “the kids are out of school” (not so, per again my previous thought…)
  3. “people are growing weary” of all this stuff (which is true, I’ve seen it, too)

I must admit I’ve yet to hear many/any folks mention anything about core drives for folks such as the economy, their work or lack-of, and so on…

In actuality, I believe it is a mix of all of this, each situation as unique as the individual, in addition to the ongoing changes on the social media platforms.

However, the fact remains that Social Media is here to stay, and that folks need it to communicate their messages. It’s also true that an inordinate amount of time can be spent — and to almost no avail, it would seem.

Social Media is a powerful way to communicate your message.  Are you using it to your best advantage?

  • Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed in your attempts to create an active Social Media presence, often struggling get your message ‘out there’ on all of the platforms, and not sure of what the right “mix” should be to help you achieve your goals?
  • Do you ever feel like you are be drowning in all the great choices, continual platform changes and new services — but for sure don’t want to miss out?
  • Some folks are growing weary, yet realize they must include Social Media in their marketing mix — just not sure the most effective way to do this!

Enter: Phil Gerbyshak and his 12 Minute Social Media Playbook, his newest fun project with Becky Robinson. What can you do in just 12 minutes with Social Media?

How to Get a FREE Copy of Michael Stelzner’s New Book “Launch”

Launch: How to Quickly Propel Your Business Beyond the Competition, by Michael Stelzner

Could be yours: Launch new book by Michael Stelzner

As most business people, professionals and nonprofits realize, propelling their enterprise to astronomical growth, catapulted to greater heights of recognition and reward requires high-powered juice to carry the payload.

I am not aware of a professional more proficient at harnessing the power of social media, with collaboration and consistent delivery of exceptional content at its core, while engaging an audience at near-stratospheric levels, than Michael Stelzner.

Michael is the founder of Social Media Examiner—a popular online magazine that helps businesses answer social media questions with useful ‘how to’ articles, in-depth case studies, expert interviews, and original research. He’s author of the new book Launch: How to Quickly Propel Your Business Beyond the Competition. He also authored the book Writing White Papers: How to Capture Readers and Keep Them Engaged and the Social Media Marketing Industry Report.

As an innovative thought leader and experienced marketer, Stelzner has gained the full respect of social media leaders and business marketing experts alike. In less than 18 months, SocialMediaExaminer.com grew from infancy to boasting over 80,000 subscribers and is now the top small business blog in the world according to Technorati. He also pioneered the highly popular Social Media Success Summits, which have sold out for two years in a row-in the middle of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. The principles that Stelzner teaches are the very concepts that helped him build two highly successful businesses that made him a leading expert in both industries.

In Michael’s newest book Launch, he reveals a new way to grow a business that involves focusing on the needs of others, giving gifts, working with outsiders, and restraining marketing messages. Readers can benefit by following the step-by-step roadmap he lays out in the book, with all of his content strategy secrets revealed.

In keeping with his business philosophy, Michael selected 50 bloggers to receive 2 copies of Launch, write a review of it and creatively give away the second copy of his book. I am thrilled to be one of those 50 bloggers, and just received my 2 copies of Launch.

I look forward to delving into Launch, and will be writing my review in the next few days.

In the meantime, I have an extra copy to give away, as I promised Michael… would you like to get my extra copy of Launch…?

Here’s how you could receive my extra copy to help your business skyrocket — I am offering this book to a small business or nonprofit organization that:

1) Visits BeckyCortino.com and leaves a comment here=> http://www.beckycortino.com/2011/06/how-to-get-a-free-copy-of-michael-stelzners-new-book-launch

describing their greatest marketing challenge, and how they believe this book will help them solve that challenge.

REQUIREMENT: To be considered, all entrants must include their website link and have demonstrable proof of having been operational for a minimum of 12 consecutive months. Finalists will be selected from the entrants, and requested to complete an application with their contact information, in order to receive the book if they are selected.

2) DEADLINE for ENTRY: Entries must be posted by MIDNIGHT Eastern Time on Friday, June 24, 2011, to be considered.

Upon determination, the list of finalists will be presented, and readers will “vote” for their choice with the most compelling story here on BeckyCortino.com. In the case of tie or inconclusive voting decision, I will use random.org to determine the recipient of the book, from the list of finalists.

BONUS => ADDITIONAL PROMOTIONAL COVERAGE: As a follow-up, I will write a business spotlight feature in 3 months, and write up a Case Study of the selected winner within 6-9 months. (With the book recipient’s expressed permission granted, of course.)

Launch is gorgeous, filled with proven strategies sure to ignite your business efforts — I know you’ll enjoy reading it. If you can’t wait to get out there on the launchpad, you can sample this cool book from Michael, by downloading a free chapter of Launch at the speed of light (or your internet connection, at the very least) by clicking this linked text.

I’m looking forward to seeing your entries!

Please help me spread the word — “Like” and tweet this post — thanks so much!

Super Bowl Commercials: Social Media Extends the Reach

07 Feb

Super Bowl XLV has come, been enjoyed, now lives on in memory — and as no doubt a water cooler topic today. A huge draw for many, and an ongoing conversation-starter, centers around the now-infamous Super Bowl commercials. At a 30-second cost of $3,000,000, folks remain fascinated to see what the sponsors roll out as their finest offering, and most lasting message.

Although the ratings won’t be released until later today, it is expected that this year’s Super Bowl is the most-watched in history, surpassing the highest viewership in 1982, according to SportsGrid.com

Social Media played a large part in pre-promoting Super Bowl spots, as well as carrying further buzz after airing. Incorporating Social Media has extended the reach for advertising dollars invested by the sponsors, by building anticipation, creating awareness, establishing a following, and continuing communicating the message long afterward. That’s a lot of buzz!

An example of using Social Media to extend audience reach and to keep the message top-of-the-mind, is You Tube Ad Blitz 2011…

You Tube's Annual Gallery of Super Bowl Commercials

You Tube’s annual Super Bowl Gallery gallery of Super Bowl® commercials offers viewers an opportunity to view, share and vote on their favorite Super Bowl Commercials. Voting is open until February 14. You Tube promises “the winning ad will receive ultimate video glory with YouTube homepage recognition on Feb 19.”

This certainly does keep the buzz going, and incorporates Social Media (You Tube, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) as mediums to extend the reach of commercials, after airing.

In the truest Social Media form, You Tube – AdBlitz’s channel is fun, offers:

  • Helpful information – playoff coverage, about Super Bowl site, recipes, etc.
  • Visitor participation – viewing, voting, commenting, predictions
  • Some advertising – a soft-sell approach — onsite

Of course the Super Bowl ads are the center of attention on the page, but presented as a form of entertainment. In my view, this is an absolutely perfect application for You Tube.

It will be interesting to see how Social Media becomes incorporated as a more integral part of sponsorship packages on a wide scale basis, even beyond the Super Bowl, as the merits of reach and longevity beyond the paid-for 30-seconds of airing, are recognized.

Which is your favorite Super Bowl commercial? Please leave your comments here — and be sure to go vote: You Tube – AdBlitz’s channel
